What are Vintage Communities?

These are the answer to the question: “how do I grow at Vintage Church?”. Vintage Communities are gatherings of people in living rooms, all around LA, who go on a two-year journey together to become like Jesus - welcome to the discipleship pathway!

Here’s what you need to know:

  • 5 modules: handpicked and written to reflect our core values at Vintage, contributed by Jon Tyson, John Mark Comer, and other teachers at Vintage.

  • 1 Missional Practice: For one semester communities come and attend or serve at Alpha.

  • Each night will look like: gathering to eat, discuss, learn, share, and pray.

  • Seasonal on-ramp & off-ramps to make room for changes, because, life.

Form a Community

Already gathered the homies? Great.

After filling out the form below, one of our team members will reach out to schedule a coffee so that we can equip and support you so that you can have a successful launch.

Find a Community

Need a little assist? No problem.

We launch new communities 3 times a year during open enrollment that you can get connected to.

Communities are currently closed. But don’t worry there’s lots to get involved in over the summer.

Check out our Social + Interest Groups.

  • Don’t start alone. Who do you already hang out with? Ask them to start a Vintage Community with you. We will give you amazing curriculum
(no prep required) that leads to life change - add a glass of wine and some pizza and you’re 90% of the way to the best night of your week.

  • We will make sure that doesn’t happen. The best way to start a Community is to form one by gathering a friend or two (or five) and start a Vintage Community with them - that way your Community is guaranteed to be full of life from day one.

If you do start your Vintage Community from scratch, and you want new people to join, we will work with you to carefully add people who we think you’ll vibe with. Promise.

  • Hopefully you’ll have two or more friends who are willing to shoulder some of the socializing and organizing with you.

Plus, we make it easy! The Discipleship Pathway that Vintage Communities journey on together is made up of 6 modules that all come with great curriculum. We’ve done the har work to make sure that are all impactful and don’t require prep, or for you to be a spiritual superstar. Hosting a Vintage Community is meant for normal people living full and busy lives.

  • A little bit, that’s up to you!

Each module is built around this simple structure:

    Gather + Eat (30 minutes)
    Pray (5 minutes)
    Discuss (10 minutes)
    Learn (20 minutes)
    Share (20 minutes)
    Pray (5 minutes)

This totals 90 minutes of impactful time that should be significant relationally, intellectually, spiritually, and personally. Whether you eat pizza, order tacos, make a charcuterie board, or watch Ted Lasso together when you’re done is all up to you!

  • No problem, most people aren’t.

That’s why we let the content do the heavy lifting and ask that the Holy Spirit work through us.

As a Vintage Community, you’ll go through 6 modules centered around the our 5 core values (word, spirit, formation, mission, family) as well doing an Alpha course together. Consider yourself a fellow sojourner on this path, as you explore these curriculums with your Community — you do not need to mentor anyone, or ‘level up’ to be ready. Anyone hosting a Vintage Community is learning alongside everyone else.

  • Thankfully, no! Only if you want to. The Discipleship Pathway is a 2 year journey so we’d love it if your Community went the whole distance - but we know life isn’t always that simple. These Communities are designed to have off-ramp options at the end of each module, and you and your co-hosts can opt to keep going or take a break.

Our hope is always that your Community has so much fun, and experiences so much transformative life-change with Jesus, that you start asking the question: why wouldn’t we want to keep meeting?

  • Not necessarily.

We would love it if Communities that have space for new people make themselves open to welcome new people, however we won’t ever force it. If your Community is full, then it’s full!

If you are open to new people we only connect you with them during an open enrollment period for the 3 weeks before a new semester starts. After that the crew is assembled!

Who do you already know that you’d love to hang out with and grow with?

Ask them to start a Community with you.
