Payroll Status: Full-time, 30 hours/week with health benefits
Work week: Sunday-Thursday
Pay Range: $30-32 per hour
Primary Purpose of the Position
The VYouth Ministry Manager at our South Bay location is a key and central role within the Vintage Church - South Bay staff. The VYouth Ministry Manager will take the lead when running all things related to the VYouth ministry (students aged 6th-12th grade) in the South Bay location of Vintage Church; including but not limited to Sunday and midweek programming, social events, retreats or trips, and both pastoral and parent meetings.
This is a new ministry for this location and so the candidate should be excited about growing a ministry from grass roots with a high emphasis on building relational connection with students, raising up a volunteer team, and establishing the healthy ministry rhythms to help love and disciple our Middle and High School students. They will work closely with the South Bay Location Pastor to make sure VYouth is a thriving, fun, and effective ministry for years to come.
Key Responsibilities
Launch Youth Ministry to disciple our next generation to be committed, stable, and anchored followers of Jesus through middle and high school
Create and outwork a ministry and discipleship program around the five core values of Vintage Church: word, spirit, formation, mission, family for VYouth students
Recruit, train, resource, schedule, and connect with VYouth volunteer team
Plan and oversee a ministry calendar of Sunday and Midweek gatherings and social events
Host weekly ministry programs, lead games, and facilitate high quality teaching (be it through small group discussion, preaching, teaching, or a carefully selected curriculum)
Collaborate with the Santa Monica location VYouth team to coordinate programming and curriculum
Attend and assist in planning annual retreats and camps with the Santa Monica VYouth team
Embody and implement the written “VYouth Team Values” for the VYouth ministry, while being the pastoral presence for Middle and High School students
Lead and disciple the students with a high emphasis on relational connection
Communicate with and pastor the VYouth students throughout the week; establishing connection points between youth and the VYouth Volunteer Team
Engage with parents, maintaining a line of communication that ensures:
Awareness of celebration and milestone moments of the Youth program
Awareness of any concerns or issues
Safeguarding
Ensure that the Youth Team is properly trained and knowledgeable about signs of child abuse and are aware of the California state manditory reporting requirements and guidelines.
Ensure that the Youth Team follows all of the Vintage principles of proper interaction between children and adults established by the C4S0 Diocese and the state of California.
Ensure there is a presence of the opposite gender than your own at all Youth events.
Help to set culture, cast vision, and dream and innovate for the future of VYouth
Carry out necessary miscellaneous tasks and errands
Implement administrative tasks and projects as needed
Take part in all-church events such as Easter, Christmas, and the Focus Retreat

As a staff member of Vintage Church, the overarching purpose of your role is to serve the mission of the church. As such, you may be assigned tasks and responsibilities from time to time which are outside of the scope of this job description.
Necessary Skills & Experience
Graduation from a ministry training school, with a theological or spiritual formation focus
Experience working as a volunteer or staff in a children’s / youth ministry program a plus
Ability to stay organized, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks at the same time
Ability to write clear and well-crafted emails
Proficient in Apple OS and Google Workspace
Ability to become proficient with Planning Center Online, Asana, and other relevant websites/tools.
Strong social and emotional intelligence
Ability to maturely and appropriately handle confidential information
Requirements
A committed follower of Jesus with an active, maturing faith.
Knowledge of, and an ability to teach the basics of the Christian faith
Ability to work well in a team environment with a positive life-giving attitude
Proficient administrative skills such as scheduling, organizing, and coordinating
Additional Requirements
The work schedule may include other weekend and evening hours. In addition to the responsibilities listed above, additional tasks as assigned to serve the larger vision of the church. All staff are required to work certain church functions such as Alpha Launch Nights and the FOCUS Retreat, Good Friday, Easter Saturday & Sunday, and Christmas Eve. These special events may include additional hours for setup and teardown. Additional details are outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Pay Range
$30 to $32 per hour
