Family Time, Gather & Eat (45 mins)
Eating together is the secret sauce to creating deep and fun community. So grab a bite to eat - it doesn’t have to be fancy - order pizza, chips and guac, or a potluck dinner are all great options. If a meal is too much then go simple. Put the kettle on and have tea and dark chocolate.
Curriculum (60 mins)
This is our time to dig in deep to what God wants to teach us, and to grow together into the likeness of Jesus. This time together will be beautiful if everyone leans in, commits to being safe listeners, and refuses to be anything other than vulnerable in our heart posture before God. It is in this place we must humbly come before God and say, “Lord I want to meet with you, I want you to change me, and I want you to do it alongside and in the midst of this community of brothers and sisters”.
Prayer (15 mins)
Listen - Rest in God's presence. What is the Holy Spirit drawing your attention to from this time together?
Offer - Bring what has surfaced: your needs, longings, and questions, and surrender them to God in trust.
Receive - As you offer these to God, receive his grace, forgiveness, and peace, trusting in his unfailing love.

Building Your Leadership
01 Vision & Care
Leader responsibility: Provides spiritual leadership, direction, and pastoral care for the group (vision and care).
Communication: Regularly texts (emails or phones) for prayers, encouragement, etc.
Leads: Group discussions, prayer times, fostering unity, harmony and inclusion.
Prays: With and for the group.
03 Mission & Service
Loving mission is a core value at Vintage. Through mission & service, we have the ability to express God’s love in tangible and practical ways to our community and beyond
Serving On Mission together:
shapes group identity and shared purpose
multiplies impact
models the heart of the gospel, humility and servanthood
02 Food & Hospitality
Sharing a meal together:
builds trust and connection
reflects the pattern of Jesus
reflects the Kingdom of God, “the kingdom of God is like a banquet” Luke 14
Practical ways to meals and meeting spaces:
Take ownership of organizing the meal/potluck schedule, or delegate it to someone organized and detail-oriented. If someone is providing the entire meal, consider setting up a payment system like Venmo to help cover food and supplies. If needed, coordinate or delegate the meeting location schedule, especially if the group rotates between homes or venues.
04 Apprenticeship
At its core, apprenticeship is deeply biblical. Not just as a method of learning, but as the core model of discipleship that Jesus used and commanded.
“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” - Matthew 4:19
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” - Proverbs 27:17
“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” -
2 Timothy 2:2
Pray for your group and identify one individual that you can invite into apprenticeship.
As an apprentice, he or she will:
Shadow you (the group leader), observe how discussion is led, how to care for members, and cast vision.
Take on small leadership tasks such as:
Leading prayer or a short devotional
Facilitating part of a discussion
Following up with members for prayer/care
Participates in leadership meetings and planning conversations
Embraces a learner’s posture – asking questions, seeking growth, and welcoming feedback.
Prays and prepares for the possibility of leading/hosting a Rooted or School of Discipleship group in the upcoming semester.
