NextGen Intern
The Youth & Young Adults Intern supports the Next Gen team in the spiritual formation, discipleship, and community-building of students across VYouth (middle and high school) and College & Young Adults (CYA) at Vintage Church LA. This role is evenly split between both ministries, contributing to weekly environments, relational discipleship, and key events. The Intern will help create spaces where young people can encounter Jesus, build meaningful relationships, and take meaningful steps in their faith. Through hands-on involvement, the Intern will gain practical ministry experience in teaching, leadership development, event execution, and pastoral care.
Responsibilities
Help create fun, safe, and welcoming environments across both VYouth and CYA that reflect the culture and heart of Vintage
Support weekly gatherings (VYouth midweek and CYA monthly gatherings) through setup, hosting, hospitality, and relational engagement
Contribute to planning conversations, creative brainstorming, and environment-building for both youth and young adult ministries
Build intentional relationships through consistent presence and 1:1 discipleship (“contact hours”) with both students and young adults
Support communication, coordination, and encouragement of volunteer leaders across VYouth and CYA
Assist in the planning and execution of key ministry events, including All Ins, retreats, and CYA gatherings
Attend retreats and camps as an active team member, investing relationally and spiritually in students
Help host and execute CYA gatherings, creating a welcoming and engaging space for young adults
Assist with administrative and organizational needs to ensure smooth weekly ministry rhythms across both ministries
Developmental Goals
Confidently plan and execute ministry environments and events across both VYouth and CYA from start to finish
Grow in the ability to prepare and communicate biblical teaching appropriate for both youth and young adult contexts
Develop consistency and reliability across core areas of Next Gen ministry, with clear strength in 2–3 key areas (e.g., teaching, hosting, logistics, pastoral care, or leadership development)
Build healthy rhythms of relational discipleship through consistent contact, follow-up, and prayer across both age groups
Demonstrate an understanding of how to create safe, healthy, and engaging ministry environments for both students and young adults
Learn to support and strengthen volunteer leaders through clear communication, encouragement, and practical leadership moments
NextGen Intern Schedule Variations
Typical Schedule: Sunday - Wednesday, with flex to include first Thursdays
Includes consistent after-school hours
Weekly Wednesday nights and first Thursdays, 3-9pm
Jake Marsh, Pastor of Next Gen
Jake Marsh is the Next Gen Pastor at Vintage Church LA, where he helps lead youth and young adult ministries. Originally from the UK, he moved to Los Angeles to serve at Vintage and has been part of the church for several years. His role focuses on supporting students and young adults as they grow in their faith and get connected into community.
Jake is married and loves living in LA! Outside of Vintage, he enjoys running, good coffee, and spending time with friends.
